Rumi Oyama

Choreographer

Rumi Oyama (Choreographer) is one of the original cast members of Allegiance on Broadway, originating the role of Mrs. Tanaka. She choreographed and performed in the Off Broadway musical Sayonara in 2015 and received the 2016 Fred and Adele Astaire Award for Outstanding Female Dancer. Oyama recently choreographed a Dance for Learning 2017, a global conference with Michelle Obama as keynote speaker. She has been working with Broadway producer Elliott Masie on creating several dance performances. Oyama is an associate member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society. As a performer, her credits include The King And I, Miss Saigon, Bye Bye Birdie, Beauty and the Beast, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Lion King (Tokyo), and many more. Later this year, she will appear as Miss Hanabusa in the feature film, Jo, The Medicine Runner, playing opposite Matt Dillon.
