Snehal Desai (Director) is the Producing Artistic Director of East West Players. His EWP directorial works include the world premiere productions of A Nice Indian Boy and the US v. Bhagat Singh Thind, as well the critically-acclaimed production of The Who’s Tommy. He has directed plays at The Old Globe in San Diego, Boom Arts in Portland, and the Old Vic in London, and has worked at more than a dozen theaters in New York City. He is also a member of the Asian Pacific American Media Coalition and serves on the Board of Directors of the Consortium of Asian American Theaters and Artists (CAATA). Desai has served as Resident Director of Theater Emory; participated in the Lincoln Center Directors Lab; and was a literary fellow with London’s Royal Shakespeare Company. A Soros Fellow and the recipient of a Tanne Award, he was in the inaugural class of Theater Communications Group’s (TCG) “Spark” Leadership Program and was the inaugural recipient of the Drama League’s Classical Directing Fellowship. Desai is a graduate of Emory University and received his MFA in Directing from the Yale School of Drama.
